Zdunska Wola - City of Ambitions

Virtual Microfirms Hub

The microenterprise hub we want to build is an innovative business structure. It is a solution to a problem which seriously impedes the economic development of Zduńska Wola.

01 The Challenge

Around Zduńska Wola there is a lack of land for large, traditional investments. Local business is characterised by low innovativeness, as a result of which there is no labour market for specialists in the city and this induces people of pre- and working age to emigrate. Zduńska Wola is affected by the same situation as hundreds of medium-sized cities in Poland. The city is depopulating because it is losing the unequal battle with metropolises. These tempt with good schools, high-paid jobs and a developed leisure industry.  As a result of the outflow of inhabitants, the budget of Zdunska Wola achieves a relatively low level of own income, which negatively affects the quality of public services.

02 Market Niche

Polish cities and regions compete with each other in attracting large economic investments. They offer tax exemptions, land at preferential prices, consultancy, help with formalities or staff training. The catalogue of incentives is very long. On top of that there is a dedicated officer and service also outside office hours. 14 special economic zones, 16 voivodeships, 66 cities with poviat rights and 314 poviats fight for the interest of large and medium-sized enterprises, i.e.. for 1% of over two million Polish companies. Nobody fights for the rest!

03 The Solution

We want to create in Zduńska Wola a virtual hub for microenterprises which, by digitalizing their business processes, will achieve the ability to cooperate and expand to global markets. The project is addressed to small enterprises from all over Poland that provide services which do not require a permanent place of business. They are representatives of creative industries, the most innovative companies in the country.

Micro-businesses which will move their office to the virtual office in Zduńska Wola will receive a free package of cloud services necessary to run their business (e.g. electronic accounting, calendar, video calls, website creator and hosting, online shop creator). Thanks to this, entrepreneurs will improve the efficiency of managing their companies, as well as optimise processes and costs, which will allow them to increase their competitiveness. Zduńska Wola will gain an increase in income from taxes paid by companies. The Hub is also expected to stimulate the development of the local microbusiness services market (e.g. accounting, insurance, logistics, IT).

04 Award

The project has been awarded first prize in the competition for innovative development impulse for local government, organised within the Academy of Future Cities by the Polish Development Fund.

Zdunska Wola is currently looking for partners to implement this innovative project. The city is open to cooperation with companies offering technological solutions for microbusiness, cloud service providers and consulting companies.
